    Campaign Update: Clarifying Contribution Receipts

    July 14th 2026

It has been brought to our campaign’s attention that some of our earlier materials referenced campaign contributions as being eligible for a “tax receipt.”

We want to correct and clarify this immediately.

Under Ontario municipal election rules, contributions to a municipal campaign are not tax deductible. While our campaign provides contribution receipts for all donations received (cash or otherwise), these are issued for record-keeping and compliance purposes only—they are not tax receipts and cannot be claimed for income tax purposes.

    For full transparency:

    • Contributions over $25 must be made through traceable methods (e.g., cheque or money order)

    • Contributions over $100 are recorded in the public financial statement

    • Eligible Brampton donors may contribute up to $1,200 per candidate and no more than $5,000 total to all candidates on council

We take accountability seriously and have updated our materials to reflect this clarification.

Thank you for your continued support and for holding us to a high standard.
